This exhibition celebrates the art of printmaking, from the innovative woodcuts and engravings of the late 15th century, to large-scale screenprints, lithographs and digital prints made by artists working today.
Focusing on prints made in the Western tradition by artists working primarily in Europe and North America, the exhibition features works by well-known names including Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Édouard Manet, Pablo Picasso, Käthe Kollwitz, Paula Rego and Kara Walker.
It will also reflect the differing contexts in which the prints were made and demonstrate how printmaking has been used to say something profound about society, to explore ideas and, sometimes, to effect change.
