The British Museum's collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts is one of the most celebrated in the world. Surrounding scholarship has contributed to major exhibitions at both the British Museum and abroad.

Jewellery held an important place in the daily lives of ancient Egyptians. In addition to being adornments denoting wealth and status, most pieces were considered deeply personal, protecting or giving strength to their wearer.

This exhibition explores the beauty of jewellery in ancient Egypt and why its context, symbolism and means of production were so unique.

It also includes objects related to beauty and cosmetics, which were closely intertwined with the elegant adornment of jewellery.

Bringing together approximately one hundred pieces, rarely loaned from the British Museum, the exhibition is visually resplendent and tells an important story about one of the world's most fascinating and influential civilisations.
