Collection up-close brings together a collection of striking and unusual images produced by the British Museum's Department of Scientific Research, revealing objects in the collection as they have never been seen before.

A rare glimpse into the work of this world-leading department, visitors are invited to discover highlights of the Museum's collections in great detail as revealed by advanced scientific analysis. The images on display are produced through techniques such as multispectral imaging, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and x-ray imaging. Using these techniques, the display explores new aspects of a variety of objects from Japanese prints to Egyptian animal mummies.

The British Museum Unseen series is a new touring offer that explores a variety of stories about the British Museum collection, loaned as a digital package to provide partners with maximum flexibility for presentation in their own venues. This package includes over 40 high-resolution images and pre-designed and ready-to-print panel and label text.
