African rock art draws on the British Museum collection of digital images of rock art from across the African continent, presenting 30 key images and stories together with a virtual reality experience.

The exhibition, which has been loaned as a digital package without any physical objects, includes early examples of rock art in Africa dating back 10,000 years, providing an exceptional opportunity to travel the continent, from Nigeria to Libya, Ethiopia to South Africa. Visitors can see examples of rock art side by side, which would be impossible to encounter together in real life. The exhibition is highly recommended for visitors of all ages and is a journey of discovery into our own origins as social beings, as well as providing the opportunity to engage with the extraordinary beauty of this ancient art form.

The British Museum Unseen series is a new touring offer that explores a variety of stories about the British Museum collection, loaned as a digital package to provide partners with maximum flexibility for presentation in their own venues. This package includes 30 high-resolution images, pre-designed and ready-to-print panel and label text, plus access to enhanced display assets including a virtual reality experience.
