Between 2023 and 2024, over eight million people had the chance to see objects from the British Museum collection outside of London, with nearly 2,000 objects loaned to over 100 venues.  

We're committed to sharing the collection with as many people as possible, which is why we work with partner museums, galleries and communities across the UK.

Touring exhibitions and loans aim to showcase the British Museum collection and benefit partner museum hosts and communities. Exhibition subjects represent the diversity of the UK, explore lesser-known cultures and support school and family engagement through curriculum-relevant topics. Through collaboration with British Museum expert curators, the resulting touring exhibitions evolve as they travel around the UK by highlighting local objects and stories. 

Supported by the Dorset Foundation, the Museum's collection and knowledge is shared extensively with communities across the UK through our touring exhibition programme. All funded opportunities are available through an open call process, offering different sized exhibitions to allow the broadest range of organisations to benefit.
