Join us for an unforgettable night at the British Museum! 

Get closer to history and experience the Museum after dark with Young Friends Sleepovers. Each sleepover has a unique historical theme and you'll have the opportunity to take part in workshops, activities and storytelling designed to bring the past to life. 

After an action-packed evening, you'll spend the night sleeping in the Egyptian, Assyrian and Greek galleries, surrounded by kings and gods from these ancient worlds. In the morning, you'll have breakfast and the chance to undertake an exclusive gallery trail before the Museum opens to the public.

If you're not able to visit us on-site, you can also recreate the magic of the British Museum in your own home with our Stay-at-home sleepovers, featuring a range of exciting activities and crafts exclusively for Young Friends.

The journey to Japan sleepover

Travel back in time to one of the world's most fascinating cultures – Japan. Experience the Museum after dark and discover a world of grand dynasties, ancient arts and spiritual tales. Through crafts, workshops and storytelling, you'll become immersed in Japan's incredible history as we bring its past to life.

You'll also have the chance to take part in an exclusive trail across our new exhibition Hiroshige: artist of the open road (1 May – 7 September 2025).

After an action-packed evening, you'll spend the night sleeping in the Egyptian, Assyrian and Greek galleries.

Join us in the morning for breakfast, followed by a special screening of the classic Studio Ghibli film My Neighbour Totoro.
