Watch a British Museum livestream and bring history directly into your classroom.

Multiple schools can join our expert educators and experience the British Museum's world-renowned collection with our Livestream Lessons. Designed for UK school children aged 7–11, these events offer an engaging exploration of life in ancient Britain, focusing on the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age.

Through live activities and thought-provoking questions, your class will enhance their knowledge and understanding of the past. Our experts will help develop your students' historical inquiry skills, challenging them to think critically about the topics they explore.

During the session, your students will:

  • Explore the collection: Begin with an introduction to the Museum's vast collection and uncover how prehistory fits into Britain's timeline, spanning back to a time before written language.
  • Learn how the deep past can be rediscovered: Explore artefacts and learn how archaeologists identify objects from different time periods, examining how prehistoric people lived and what materials they used.
  • Compare the past with today: See how digital reconstructions and replica objects can help us understand life in the Bronze Age and Iron Age.

Livestream Lessons are less interactive than our Virtual Visits. Unlike Virtual Visits, we will not be able to see or hear your students. However, teachers will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance from their young learners.

  • Ages: 7–11 (KS2)
  • Curriculum links: History and Science
  • Session time: 60 minutes
