Explore LGBTQ+ histories in the collection in line with Relationship and Sexual Health Education (RHSE) at the British Museum through object enquiry, activities and discussion.

Working with an educator, these sessions aim to provide RSHE in a cross curricular, creative and informative way, using British Museum objects and contemporary issues to generate discussion. This session would complement in-school RSHE. At the end of the session we invite students to submit anonymous questions which we give back to schools to help teachers shape a student-led RSHE offer.

To find out more about the LGBTQ+ objects in the British Museum collection explore our video with sex and relationship educator Hannah Witton in conversation with the Youth Collective – a group of 18–24-year-olds working to inspire other young people to engage with the British Museum.

Our staff have been trained working with the School of Sexuality as critical friends.

We have a free LGBTQ+ histories trail available to download which KS4 and KS5 students are welcome to use to explore the Museum independently.

All objects used in this session are on permanent display in the Museum.
