Gather in the Reading Room to enjoy performances from choirs across Camden as they sing at this special event.

Experience the historic Reading Room in a new way with the sounds of London-based Welsh Male Voice Choir Côr Meibion Gwalia; the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and University College London Hospitals (UCLH) staff choir; and Brazilian choir Nossa Voz. Marvel at the amazing architecture and domed ceiling while enjoying the performances from three very different choirs from Camden.

The performances will run at the following times on Friday 6 June:

  • 16.00–16.45: Côr Meibion Gwalia (Gwalia Male Choir)
  • 17.45–18.15: UCLH and GOSH staff choir
  • 19.00–19.45: Nossa Voz

Booking information

  • This event is free to attend but booking is required for each performance.
  • Please note that each choir will be performing separately.
  • Doors will open 15 minutes before each performance for the audience to take their seats.
  • Please note only bottled water is permitted in the Reading Room. No food or other drinks are allowed.
  • Event ticket holders no longer need to join queues that develop outside the Museum gates. Instead, you can go straight to the front of the queue, show your confirmation email or paper ticket – and security colleagues will guide you to the fast-track lane (leading to the security tent). This procedure will be in place at both entrances, but we recommend that you use the Main entrance on Great Russell Street for the quickest possible access.
  • Please allow time to go through a security check which includes a bag check upon entry to the Museum.

About the choirs

Côr Meibion Gwalia (Gwalia Male Choir) formed in 1967 and comprises members from the Welsh community in and around London, but is open to anyone who shares a passion for singing. The repertoire ranges from traditional Welsh hymns and folk-tunes to pop songs and hits from Broadway musicals. In its illustrious 50-year history the Gwalia has been a prize-winner at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, has performed in London's Royal Festival and Royal Albert Halls, St James's Palace and on the pitch at Wales' rugby stadium in Cardiff.

UCLH and GOSH choir

The UCLH and GOSH choir is made up of staff and volunteers from University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. Staff from the hospitals come together once a week to connect creatively, unwind and relax. The choir is organised jointly between the UCLH and GOSH arts teams. The choir is conducted by Naomi Hammerton and accompanied by Joe McGrail. The choir is funded by the UCLH Charity and the GOSH Charity.

Nossa Voz

Nossa Voz aims to show the richness and diversity of Brazilian popular music to the British public. The group is composed of people of various nationalities who get together to sing Brazilian music and celebrate Brazilian culture. Nossa Voz is an original and slightly unconventional project, mixing voices and musical arrangements with theatrical elements. The majority of the group had never set foot on a stage before joining – which can be seen in their show Singing Brazil. Nossa Voz is open to all nationalities and backgrounds and welcomes a mixture of amateur and semi-professional singers.
