Join the Schools and Young Audiences team for a special event for teachers centred on the exhibition Hiroshige: artist of the open road.
This show looks at the artwork of Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858), one of Japan's most talented, prolific and popular artists. It will be led by: Alfred Haft, JTI Project Curator for Japanese Collections and the Lead Exhibition Curator for the exhibition; Emily Williams, Project Curator for the exhibition; artist Hiroko Imada, who specialises in teaching Japanese woodblock printing, papermaking, folded screen making and hanging scroll making; and artist and teacher, Jo Richardson, who specialises in printmaking and sculpture.
Find out about the key exhibition themes, attend drop-in creative workshops, chat to members of the Schools team to help plan an exhibition visit and join a curator talk.
This event is aimed at teachers, trainee teachers and heritage professionals and is part of the public programme supporting the exhibition Hiroshige: artist of the open road (1 May – 7 September 2025).
