Mummified remains of a man named Nesperennub, son of Ankhefenkhonsu. The body is encased in a painted cartonnage mummy-case, and is associated with an anthropoid wooden coffin. The man’s titles are Beloved of the God, Opener of the Two Gates of Heaven in Karnak, Libationer of Khonsu of Benenet.
Sex: male
Age: Middle adult (35–49 years)
Stature: 165.8 ± 2.9 cm
Head and neck - Mouth closed and filled with packing material, also visible in the neck. There is considerable dental attrition and multiple periapical lesions. Artificial eyes inserted in orbits over a bundle of textile. Nasal bones were broken and the brain was removed. An object, probably a bowl in clay, is visible on top of his head. Snake, probably in wax, is visible on his forehead.
Chest and abdomen – An incision on the left side of abdomen was used to remove internal organs and to insert packing material and canopic packages. The packages enclose embalmed organs and wax Sons of Horus amulets. The incision is covered with a metal plate. Many amulets were placed on top of the body: pectoral in metal, heart amulet, djed pillars, wedjat amulets, baboons, vulture, as well as stolae.
Arms - Extended. Hands with extended fingers over the pubic area. Several small amulets, probably attached by a thread, around the fingers.
Legs - Extended with the feet at a right angle.
Pathological conditions - Heavy dental wear with most of the crowns worn away; several cases of tooth decay; numerous periapical lesions; some antemortem tooth loss
Cartonnage – A falcon-headed scarab is shown with large wings spreading over Nesperennub’s chest. Below are Sokar, the four Sons of Horus, Isis and Nephthys, and probably Neith and Selkis. At the centre is the fetish of Osiris above a column of hieroglyphs. At the back of the cartonnage is a large djed pillar topped with a human figure wearing an atef crown. The wooden board is decorated with an image of the Apis bull.
Coffin - Anthropoid wooden coffin inscribed with the name of Nesperennub, son of Ankhefenkhons, with polychrome painted face, wig and collar, with vertical register of hieroglyphs in white down body and a further register in blue around the sides of the coffin. A figure of Nut is visible inside the coffin.
