- Curator's comments
- The background is Tokyo Bay with Odaiba skyline. Rainbow Bridge in distance. A torii gate (entrance to a shrine) stands on the lawn. Bulding at lower right is Kiyomizudera Temple in Kyoto. Tied to the branches are omikuji (paper fortunes) foretelling bad luck; according to popular belief, the misfortune can be averted by tying the omikuji to a tree branch. Manicured lawn photographed at a temple in Kyoto. The red banner gives the name of a patron who has donated to a temple (in this case to the Zenizuka Jizo Hall at Sensoji, Asakusa, Tokyo.)
